Graduate Program and Research

Alumni

To support our quality enhancement processes, we monitor the professional development of our alumni during the first few years following their defense. To this end, we use information from the Lattes platform (a nationwide database of researchers’ resumés) as well as data collected in periodic surveys conducted with the support of admin staff, current students and alumni themselves. The latest round of data collection, conducted in early 2021, revealed that most of our doctors are employed in universities and research centers in Brazil and abroad. A good proportion of our alumni serve at different levels of the compulsory education system, both public and private.

The

Alumni are encouraged to pursue further studies, and most of those who received their Master’s degree during the period covered by the data collection (2017-2020) were admitted to Doctoral Programs. Also, those who obtained their doctoral degrees remained associated with our research groups [link para página dos grupos de pesquisa] or with groups in other institutions, and some founded their own study groups. Additionally, a number of these went on to conduct post-doctoral studies in national and foreign institutions, including the University of Essex (UK), Université de Montreal (Canada), University of Évora (Portugal), University of Texas, San Antonio (USA) and several institutions in Brazil, including Fiocruz, Unicamp, USP, UFMS, UFRJ, UFRJ, UERJ, Unirio, UFF and PUC-Rio. At the level of compulsory education, we have alumni employed in well-reputed organisations, many in leadership positions in governmental and non-governmental institutions alike.
